What is
a bio? That’s a great question and how relevant are they? Have you
ever seen an ad for an investment, such as a mutual fund? Somewhere
on that ad in very small print it will say, future returns are not
indicative of past performance. I kind of feel the same way about
bio’s, you don’t need to know every detail of my past, even though
it really is quite exciting. What you should know about the lead
pastor of a church is this, ‘what drives him today?’
As an ongoing student of church with some pretty good experience
under the belt, I really believe that the church has a wonderful
opportunity to make a significant difference in the community in
which it is found. I believe God is relevant and that some of the
traditions of the church reflect that relevance. Unfortunately,
sometimes we lean more on tradition than relevance, and become
unbalanced in regards to God being real in our everyday existence.
It
is my hope that New Life reflect God’s relevance for the 21st
century, incorporating timeless teachings and expressions of faith
with a practical approach to daily life and worship. Our church time
tends to be casual and user-friendly, really! We also drink a fair
amount of coffee. You can expect that our music be contemporary
sounding, and the teaching aspect of the service to be very linear,
starting someplace and ending up with a point!
I firmly believe that my role in life is to train New Lifers to live
God’s purposes for their lives in every avenue of their being, from
the home life, to the career side and finally, the church arm. If I
can help you with your spiritual journey, I would be honored to do
so.
I’m joined in this venture by my better half, Donna and my two kids,
Makalie and Bryce. I’d much rather write about them, they are much
more interesting than I. Suffice it to say, I have a great family
and count them as a priority.
Let’s be honest, some of you are bugged that I didn’t give some
background info about me. Okay, I’ll give in a bit, but I hold to my
point that God’s best for our lives is still to come, so my past is
really yesterday’s news. Here’s a few bullet points:
22 years in the professional church world, with a primary
focus on students and young couples
I have received my Masters Degree.
Ministry roots that go way back and all over the world
A desire to serve God, a calling I’ve felt since I was 16.
I’m 42 years old, but I like to say that I’m 18 years away from 60
So there you have it…Oh yeah, I’ve been married 17 years.
Check us out, we’d love to get to know you and for you to experience
New Life, love in action.
